Scenic Snow Coach Tours

Enjoy Colorado’s backcountry from our 13 passenger, heated and enclosed, four-track snowcoach. This is the perfect way to experience the backcountry in luxury. This adventure takes you throughout the White River National Forest beginning at historic Camp Hale. We will leave the valley floor and climb to an elevation of 12,000, feet where you will experience breath taking views. You won’t want to forget your camera. Our morning and mid-day tours include lunch at our Lodge.

A $10 Forest Service Fee is charged per person on all tours, in addition to the cost of the tour.

Unguided Snowmobiling

At our Camp Hale location you can choose to rent your own snowmobile. We’ll provide you proper safety and operating instructions and a map of the area and you can enjoy the freedom of the Colorado backcountry. Our Ski Doo trail sleds are comfortably suitable for one or two people and you can explore endless miles of pristine trails. Explore the back country at your own pace and ability.

High Performance rentals require a $1,000 credit card authorization hold

Check in at the Turquoise Lake Riding area at 1668 County Road 99, Leadville, Co. 80461. Check in is 30 minutes to Tour time.

From Interstate 70, take Copper Mountain/Leadville Exit 195. Continue South to Highway 24 West. Turn right on Highway 24 and continue for 4 miles to Highway 99 also known as Grand West Drive. Turn left and continue south on 99 to the Public Parking Lot. White Mountain personnel will guide you to the check in area.

Restrictions and things to consider because of COVID:

  • FACE COVERINGS ARE REQUIRED FOR CHECK IN. NECK GATORS, BAKLAVAS, OR MASKS ARE OK.
  • WE WILL NO LONGER PROVIDE TRANSPORTATION FROM ANY LOCATION.
  • Helmets are provided. Ski helmets are not appropriate.
  • WE WILL NO LONGER PROVIDE SUITS, BOOTS OR GOGGLES.

Guests must arrive in warm and appropriate winter clothing including jackets, pants, gloves, scarves, goggles or sunglasses. Please bring a scarf, facemasks or neck gator. Arrive properly dressed or you will be unable to participate.

Pregnant women cannot participate

Minimum weigh for zip line is 60#, Maximum weight is 260#.

A credit card is required at check-in to be used in the rare event of damage. We accept all major credit cards.

48-hour cancellation policy: A total refund can only be given if we are notified 48 hours in advance of the tour date. Refunds will not be given for people who do not show up on the day of the tour. If 4 people are booked and only three people come, we will not refund for the "no show person". All reservations must be booked and paid in advance.

*A standard liability waiver must be signed before participating in any activity.

TWO HOUR PROSPECTOR SNOWMOBILE TOUR | This guided tour features groomed trails and spectacular views of 14,000 feet mountains. It’s great for families with children, single riders looking for a scenic ride, or couples who want to ride together on the same snowmobile. Groomed trails make this ride good for all levels of experience. Parents will enjoy a brief stop so children up to 70 pounds can take a turn driving a kiddie snowmobile in a snowy meadow, while other guests enjoy free-time riding in a scenic practice area.

Helmets are mandatory and provided; we do not use full face helmets. Wear warm winter clothing, (ski wear is appropriate), insulated waterproof boots, gloves, scarf or neck gator, goggles or sunglasses for eye protection. We are unable to provide clothing so guests arriving without appropriate gear cannot participate.

Rates: $180 Per Driver, $80 for Passenger = $260 for Double
Guides can no longer carry child passengers.

PERFORMANCE TOURS

TWO HOUR PERFORMANCE SNOWMOBILE TOUR on Polaris 550sYou don’t have to be an experienced snowmobiler to book this ride. This popular two-hour tour is perfect for adventurous people looking for a thrilling fast moving ride. Riders will enjoy scenic views of 14,000 foot mountains, trails through the forest, and snowy alpine meadows in the shadow of the Continental Divide. This is superb riding at altitudes from 10,000 to 12,600 feet. The Performance Tour is restricted to single riders, no passengers are allowed. Perhaps you will return to experience one of our more extreme tours on another day.

HIGH ADVENTURE TOURS

TWO HOUR HIGH ADVENTURE SNOWMOBILE TOUR on Polaris 550 RMKsThis tour is for experienced single riders wanting a more advanced and challenging ride. No passengers are allowed. Riders will enjoy thrilling sport riding on the windswept alpine tundra, through high alpine valleys and powder filled bowls high above tree line at ‘the top of the world’. Enjoy the 360-degree panoramic views from 10,000 to 12,600 feet.

Rate: $250 – Single Experienced Riders Only
Guide Gratuity: The most experienced guides will be assigned to host Private High Adventure Tours.
$45 Gratuity is expected and will be added for each rider at check-out.

THREE HOUR HIGH ADVENTURE SNOWMOBILE TOUR on Polaris 550 RMKsThis ride is for experienced riders who want to range out into more remote areas to explore back country bowls filled with champagne powder. White Mountain Tours has been hosting riders for more than 22 years with the highest and most exciting sport riding at altitudes up to 12,600 feet. Our experienced guides enjoy showing their guests how the locals ride. This challenging ride is not for the faint of heart as the thrills just keep on coming.

Tour Time is 9:00 a.m.
Guests should arrive by 8:30 a.m. at the Base Camp.

Rate: $350 per Single Rider – Experienced Riders Only (No Passengers Allowed)
Our most professional guides are assigned to host High Adventure Tours. This tour is a special Private Adventure. Guide Gratuity: $70 Gratuity is expected and will be added for each rider at check-out.


THE ROCKY MOUNTAIN CHALLENGE, INCLUDE TIPS FOR SNOWMOBILE TOUR GUIDE

THE FIRST ADVENTURE ON THIS COMBO IS A TWO-HOUR SNOWMOBILE TOUR AT THE TURQUOISE LAKE RIDING AREAAfter the paperwork is completed and you are all geared up, your guide will shuttle you about 10 minutes away to our satellite base at Turquoise Lake for the first ride. In the summer, the Turquoise Lake Recreation area is enjoyed by campers, boaters, fishermen and hikers but in winter the county road and all trails are blocked off to cars and other traffic and the area is restricted to winter activities. There are more than 25 miles of groomed trails including a 15-mile loop that climbs up from 10,000' to about 11,300'. We also ride in the meadows, past Campgrounds like The Baby Doe, and on private areas like Rancho Escondido. Our top-of-the-line fleet of Polaris 550s and four-stroke Ski Doo's (G.T.Le 900s) is ready to take you on an amazing tour of the area after time for practice time in one of the snowy meadows. This area provides incredible photo opportunities as Mount Massive and Mount Elbert border the area, their lofty peaks soaring up to 14,000' feet, just across the lake. This two-hour tour is for single riders only and the roads and trails will give you the confidence to feel comfortable on the snowmobile and ready for the higher altitudes and steep climbs on the Performance Tour coming next.

Take a break and explore 70 blocks of colorful Victorian Buildings in Leadville, just a few minutes from the parking lot. Numerous restaurants, restaurants and historic Saloons along Harrison Avenue are ready to serve a great lunch. Visit interesting antique stores, the Rock Shop, the National Mining Hall of Fame Museum or take a tour of Baby Doe's Matchless Mine or the Hopemore Underground Mine. Leadville was voted a winner as Best Historic Small Town in the 2020 USA Today Travel Award Contest.

Top of the Rockies Snowmobile Tour

For the ultimate snowmobile experience we offer a half-day and full-day excursion at our primary Camp Hale location. Our most popular tours, the Top of the Rockies tours include endless miles of open meadows and spectacular 360-degree panoramic views of four surrounding mountain ranges including the Continental Divide. Operating our tours in the White River National Forest at Historic Camp Hale, we reach elevations of 12,500 feet on the largest commercial snowmobile trail system in the Vail and Beaver Creek area.

All guided snowmobiling tours include door-to-door transportation, a professional guide, new model Ski-Doo snowmobile, snowsuit, boots and helmet. The morning half-day tour and full-day snowmobile tours include lunch.

We have a brand new fleet of Ski-Doo snowmobiles for our Top of the Rockies tours. As a single rider, enjoy the power of the four-stroke MXZ Sport 600. If you are doubling up, ride in comfort and enjoy heated handle grips for both the driver and passenger with the four-stroke Grand Touring Sport 600.

Tigiwon Snowmobile Tours

Tigiwon offers two-hour snowmobiling tours on more than 50 miles of groomed trails in the White River National Forest. Starting at 8,000 feet from our base location just outside of Vail, our trails wind to a maximum elevation of 10,500 feet. Enjoy a hot beverage along the way as we take a pit-stop at our warming station. Soak in some spectacular views of Vail’s Back Bowls, Notch Mountain, and four surrounding mountain ranges. We definitely encourage the use of your camera!

Our new model Ski-Doo snowmobiles are fully automatic and easy to operate. Our trips include door-to-door transportation, professional guide, snowmobile, snowsuit, boots, helmet, and hot beverages & cookies mid-way at the warming hut. Drivers must be 16 years or older with a DL to drive their own snowmobile and children as young as two years old can ride as a passenger. Trips operate seven days a week, reservations are required. Please bring a warm hat, gloves, sunglasses or goggles, and your camera!
